How a payday loan should work

A Payday loan (also known as short term loans) are loans over a period of 31 days. Usually you pay a £25 fee for every £100 you borrow. Payday loan company's usually require your debit card details as that’s how they collect the payment.

In more recent years as payday loans have grown in popularity, loan providers strive to make access to money easier for those with poor credit. Some company's can take payments by direct debit from your UK bank account if you dont have a debit card and many companies will let you defer some or all of the payment till the following month. Be warned that to do this you will incur extra interest.

It’s important you don’t borrow money you can’t afford to pay back, and you talk to the payday lender company if you get into any difficulties and not just ignore them.
